In South Florida, your AC runs almost all year. That is a lot of hours on the same parts, in heat and humidity that most of the country only sees a few weeks a year. Here is how often we recommend getting it checked, and what a visit actually covers.
Twice a year is the minimum
For most homes in Broward and Palm Beach, two maintenance visits a year is a good baseline: one in spring before the heavy cooling season, and one in the fall. If you have pets, a lot of dust, or a system that runs hard all day, three or four visits a year keeps it cleaner and catches problems sooner.
What we check on a visit
- Coils, so the system can move heat out of your home
- The drain line, which clogs easily in our humidity and can leak into your ceiling
- Capacitors and electrical connections, a common cause of an AC that stops on a hot afternoon
- Refrigerant levels and overall performance
Signs you should not wait
Call us sooner if the air coming out is not cold, the unit runs nonstop, you see water around the indoor unit, or your power bill jumped without a reason. Small problems caught early are usually cheaper than a breakdown in August.
